Back On The Market

Have you recently found yourself single? If you were in a long-term relationship, the dating scene is probably completely different than when you left it. To some, the dating scene is a scary place. There are so many options for dating and finding the mate that you want to spend the rest of your life with. There’s online dating, speed dating, social media, or meeting someone the old fashion way. As a newly single person you have to find what makes you feel most comfortable. As you get back into the dating world there are some things you have to keep in mind.

Gain Clarity

Relationships are difficult. I advise that you make sure you are ready to date again. The worst thing you can do is go on a date with someone who you are really interested in and talk about your past relationship or breakout into tears.

Develop understanding

Ensure that you take the time to realize what you like, need, and want from another person. If you are going to start going on dates again, make sure you know what you want to get out of the date. Do you want someone to talk with, do you just want a sexual relationship, or do you want an exclusive relationship? Whatever you decide, make sure you have fun.

Do the work

A lot of times when people begin dating again, they jump back into the dating world and stop growing like they were doing while they were healing. Don’t forget to continue to learn, grow and develop yourself. Reflect daily.

The Market

As human beings we crave relationships. However, you don’t have to commit to the first person you start dating. Take your time getting to know people, getting to know yourself again and finding the best person for you. Dating is hard and most of us can’t wait to get it over with and be with our person. Your person is out there and you will meet them. Don’t rush it, take your time being single for the very last time.

If you are nervous or overwhelmed with getting back on the dating scene, feel free to call Amy Wine Counseling Center at 832-421-8714.
